X-Fire
Every now and then you see people asking if members from other guilds are online because they have a question.
Personally i find the Guild Wars ingame friendlist very crowded looking as soon as you have more than 15-20 people online at the same time.
I've used a program called X-Fire for a long time and it's without a doubt one of the most usefull things to have for anyone part of a Guild, Clan, Alliance or any other form of ingame teamplay, especially for those leading them.
The basic concept is realy not much more than a friendslist, however it has some very usefull features.
As an example, a meeting between Officers/Leader of guilds can be done easily just by creating a quick chat lobby and adding those you need to be part of it. Without anyone interrupting the chat.
Or sending someone a file realy quick, done in less than half the time it will take to minimze the game, open your mailbox and sending the message, X-Fire uses a simple drag and drop method. This for example would be very easy for those helping out Mighty with the bugle.
Another thing i realy like is the fact that X-Fire works very well with pretty much any game you play. Programs like MSN Messenger, AOL Messenger, Yahoo, etc etc, tend to slow down the performance a bit. X-Fire simply runs in the background of your game and can quickly be brought up, while still in game, by a key combination.
X-Fire also allows you to take Screenshots or Videos, should anyone care for them.
Heres a screenshot of my game just running Guild Wars
Heres one with X-Fire opened up in-game
Like i said, i've used it for years and it's one the first things i turn on when i start up my comp. =]
Happy to awnser any question if this sparks some interest, just let me know =]

Re: X-Fire
Another awesome thing about xfire is that you can be a member of more than one clan. I a cousin who started 3 with his freind just to see if it would work and I'm a member of all 3. That way, everyone can be a member of at least 2 xfire guilds. 1 for the alliance and one for their individual guild. It helps to sort out who is on in which specific group.
Another good thing about xfire is the calander that clans can use. It can help organize, inform, and help people keep events straight among the guilds and alliance.
By the way my xfire username is jordag

Re: X-Fire
Reminder: If anyone has an Xfire account OR will be making one, please post your screenname here so we can all add you as a friend.
As Laydee mentioned in the 1st thread Xfire is an awesome chat program, (similar to an instant Messenger program). Its designed to work with most games. Once installed it detects what games you have on your PC.
XFIRE advantages: unlimited friends, chat, send files, instant screenshots/videos that can be posted to your xfire profile, host your own chat room, add servers to your favorites, follow your friends into games/servers, you also have capability of customizing your privacy settings, viewing your Gaming statistics (Kill death ratios ect ect).
All this causes no lag & runs low on your processes.
If you have any questions you can most certainly ask Laydee or Myself. We've been using Xfire for a long time.
