Combo Fields and Finishers: Explained

So you hear people wanting might stacks, what is that?

Ok, if you look at some of your skills you can sometimes see either a combo field (Dark, Ethereal, Fire, Ice, Light, Lightning, Poison, Smoke, Water) or combo finisher (Blast Finisher, Leap Finisher, Physical Projectile, Whirl Finisher) in the attack's description. Both combo fields and finishers can be found on each profession, so do take a look at your skills to see what qualifies. Now a combo happens when you take both a combo field and a combo finisher and they combine! This means you got to do the specific attack within the field!!!

Here is a link describing what each of the possible combinations are. However, most used are both the fire and water fields! Note that you gain either 3 stacks of might or aoe heal for blast finishing a fire or water field! This can help you gain either burst dps or burst heals depending on which fields you use. Note that anything in that table that says "area _____" under the blast finishers will only work for up to 5 people. All aoe attacks in gw2 have a max amount of effect of up to 5 people. Which is one effect that stacking in one spot in wvw is particularly effective.

This guide is best used by elementalists, engineers, thieves, and warriors. However, it is good to know for all players! It is used in various fights to quicken a dungeon, boss battle or kill mobs.

Thanks for the info. I have always wondered why Anet put a 5 person limit on aoe.
