survival - Alliance survival guide Empty Alliance survival guide

Post by Akroma Tue May 05, 2009 8:12 pm

As always; i try to speed up peoples learning curve. The more people that we teach and bring up to speed, the more people that we have available and interested in doing all the things that the game has to offer. Nobody would cry about "there is never enough people to do ..... with" I would believe that the majority of the people who read the website are already very knowledgable about the game and for the most part are well setup. If you're already a long time veteran, these are the things i would expect you to teach and help ppl setup. However if you are not an experienced player, then this post is a helpful insight as to what kinds of profs, builds and titles to have that are commonly used and often needed. I'm not going to list EVERYTHING right now, but perhaps i'll add onto the list later on.

You are allowed 3 pve only skills and in most cases i would suggest to squeeze as many into your build as you can. Title track skills should most definately be used to your advantage because it does not suck up attribute points to make them powerful.

Perma: If you dont know what a "perma" sin is..then you need to get out more often. Ask anybody in the alliance for a perma-sin build and they'll gladly ping one out for you. Permas are used for runners, farmers, and elite areas. I would highly suggest to create one and use it while its still possible to do so.

Cryer: Cryers use the sunspear skill cry of pain and are useful everywhere. Necro, Mesmer, Ele, Monk, Derv, etc. If you need to learn about cryers, ask the alliance or check pvxwiki.com

Runner or farmer: Everybody has needs and wants in the game. We all know it takes gold to do so. Make yourself a running character and earn some gold, or a farmer. Dont know how? Ask the alliance for details.

Melee profs: I would suggest to max out your norn title from eotn. All norn skills are quite handy on melee chars, from feel no pain to i am the strongest. cant go wrong.

Spell casters: Definately look into asuran skills and get atleast a decent title. Pain inverter and Mindbender come in handy.

Elite areas: Yes, its sad but true...some people dont even know what ToPK, Uw, Urgoz or DoA even are...Trust me - i ask lots of people about them and if they're ready/setup for them at any given time. Once again...we all found out about them at some point in time. Anyways, once you've reached the Temple of Ages in prophecies, Chantry of Secrets in Nightfall or Zin Ku Corridor in factions you are able to do several elite areas. Obviously spiffy areas mean spiffy drops, armors, and usually need spiffy builds. If you are not familiar with wiki by now: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page then familiarize yourself with it because it'll tell you anything you need to know about the game.

Urgoz: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_Urgoz%27s_Cryway This is only a rough idea, i wouldnt use these builds exactly skill for skill.

DoA: 1 bonder, 1 tank (perma suggested, but obby of any kind will do) 1 hb monk, 1 ranger/mesmer or mes/ranger, and cryers (Ele is ideal) http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_DoA_Ether_Cryway

Please feel free, add to the list and more importantly TEACH THOSE AROUND YOU THAT ARE NOT UP TO PAR YET!

Great post Akroma ... makes me think of the "Possible things to do" post in the Activities forum.

As such I feel it prudent to say the main thing that is said there, here, and that is ....

Can we set up specific activites several days each week in order to teach some of these skills/elite areas etc and to assist in the gain of titles/campaign completions etc ?

This is the first guild/alliance I have been in that actually have an interest in doing these things which as awesome and the fact that many members are always willing to share builds, teach runs and so on makes this a great collection of players of whom I'm very proud to be counted among.

I love the idea contained in this post. I just have one thing to add. I've grown weary of PvE over my time and its hard to find someone willing to put in a lot of time to teach PvP. I've been trying to get a GvG team set up and it hasn't gone too well yet. It would be most awesome if we could get more people involved in heavy PvP as well as PvE. Lets make use of "all the things the game has to offer" Very Happy

And that's all she was trying to tell. Let's not make this one of those spam-loaded threads.

Sliver Armour: This is a backbone skill of many farming builds, from A/E to E/Me to E/A and Me/E and any other x/E farming builds, due to it's ability to take every attack and spell and make it with damage one foe. While many think it wise to pair with AoE, this would impair your chances of success due to scatter. So, damage increasers, namely the title track skills intensity, Ebon Battle Stand of Honour, and "By Ural's Hammer!" help kill everything b4 they can run.

And that was long and specific.
