Hi all,

in case anyone missed the golden announcement whenever u log in: Anet banned 3700 accounts for botting and other misschievous behaviour.
But check out how they did it!!!

Honestly, this is the coolest way I've ever seen a game ban their offenders ever.

Good for Anet, but one thing that baffles me is why the hell did they waited so long to do this. With GW2 close to be released (checked gamestop on Sunday, the date is currently set to 11/02/2010) they would choose to let go of so many people at once, I'd imagine normally one would want to keep people around until the new game gets here. Hope this doesn't affect the sales of GW2 in any ways.

Keeping in mind that there was a significant player base that were frustrated over the lack of action over botting for such a long period of time, I'm sure Anet has gained a new roster of loyal subscribers as well. Doing a mass ban and announcing it like this seems to have the largest impact on the morale of players and botters alike.

I agree on the ban/termination but just wondering why so late. Botting has been around for GW for as long as I can remember, the 3700 acounts that were banned I won't be surprised if they were owned by less than 1000 actual people, and out of those the ones actually "played" the game is probably much less but still, GW has been around for over 5 years and the ones that are still playing today will most likely be sticking around for GW2, losing those players can have a pretty profound impact on the next game since it is extremely late in the game phase.

Simply put; i'm glad people get caught and banned because they ruin the gaming experience.

I'm also glad that A-net bans the bots but don't see this as a one-time measure. A-net banned thousands of accounts before, it's just the 1st time they do it with Dhuum sweeping the offenders of their feet. So rather than seeing this as a 'way-to-late' action consider this the next installment of the ever-ongoing hunt on botters, only this time A-net did it in style!

We had some dhuum spotting last night, great fun Smile

Considered it would be pretty amusing if, next time we visited the underworld to find ' Hunting Bots BRB ' to be posted on Dhuum's door Twisted Evil

Fair play that was a epic ban. I hope we see a lot more of that even if I don't get to see it.
