Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
Tonight we've had yet another milestone in AoL history. We've created an expansion guild; AoD. We've taken several volunteers and created Army of Darkness which represents Grenth - the opposite of Army of Lightness which will now represent Dwayna. Once we've grown AoD as huge as AoL has become - we'll go right down the line in our pattern for our alliances - a guild for Balthazar, Melandru, and Lyssa (Army of ......) So far within just an hour and a half we've already grown to 24+ members in AoD! We've tried a new tactic tonight which as turned out AMAZINGLY - mass group recruiting. Tag team style recruiting in several towns, if you're interested talk to me or Azmuth - we've got the science of it down now

Re: Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
Akroma was right last night when he stated that it was all in the way you presented yourself and the guild/alliance.
I stink at recruiting and managed to recruit 2 members just by being kind and forth coming.
This was a really good idea for expansion. We need to make sure that new members are taken care of as well and get whatever assistance they need.

Make sure when you are recruiting that you aren't just spamming the recruiting text, either. Check for people without guild tags, and ask them if they are interested. I can almost guarantee that 1 out of 10 of those people will land a bite.

Re: Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
The most important piece of advise i can give to any of you while recruiting is to give them a good grasp on how the guild is prior to sending them an invite. If i see somebody without a guild tag I typically start out with, "hello, i happened to notice that you currently not in a guild, are you by any chance looking for one?" Then from there if they are interested I continue on with,"What kinds of things do you like to spend the majority of your time doing on guild wars?" (blah blah they'll respond AB or w/e they like to do) I'll follow up, "Well let me tell you a little bit about us; AoL has been around since 2006, we've become massive in size and are creating our 2nd guild as an expansion of the first guild. So basically we're looking to become 200 active/friendly members, and we're looking to increase the size of our second guild." This way the new peson you are trying to recruit knows that he's not just entering a small guild when he sees the roster, he'll know its a HUGE guild and he's lucky to be a part of our empire. Then the typical knockout final question, "Would you like to join our expansion guild?"
Its all about being a salesman. You have to sell yourself and the guild very well, better than the competition - ESPECIALLY if you want them to stick around! Every other guild thats out there recruiting has the same old song and dance advertisement, "ABC guild LF Mature/Friendly/Active members 95+ |Hfff|AB|Vent|website|whisp for info" This group recruiting has been effective so far because when there is four different guilds all trying to recruit in one town at the same time, how is somebody suppose to choose us over them? Easy - if there is four or five people in town and all of us are in the Party Search window all next to each other, its like we have a gigantic bilboard over our heads saying PICK US NOT THEM!

ive found when recruiting relatively new players going to pre or ascalon city and asking "want to join a guild?" is very effective

BOOOOOOO!!!!! Army of Might? Well, I suppose that would represent Balthazar well, right? Do you really think you could handle being a leader though, Mighty?

Re: Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
The only problem with that, Gowad, is that you tend to get some new players that are swayed out of guilds easily by promises from other guilds. Also, they tend to ask for way too much, such as money, items, etc. You have the right idea, because you can get some members that stick and tend to turn out pretty good, but just gotta talk to them about the guild, and what they are looking for, first.

Re: Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
I almost never give handouts. I have people in my guild who asked for handouts when they joined, I said no and they have stayed with the guild for most of its existence. 4 months If a player seems reluctant or asks i give them the full scoop.

Re: Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
do i think i could b a leader {=\ well theres of course some doubts
like idk if i could GET the guild started
money would b a huge issue
but my style of recruiting is different from the mainstream
i usually recruit after working with some1 for a bit
i get to kno them and see what their attitude is like
this is what leads me to pull in some very promising members
LIKE DIGGY!!!
i usually dont go out with the purpose for recruiting but if i do
iam good at finding recruits
so i think i could piece together a really good guild
but would b in it alone i mean after all ever guild as a right hand man

Re: Army of Lightness 2.0 !!!
lets not get too carried away until we get AoD well established as AoL is. Once AoD has become 60+ members then we can start working on another guild, but let us not forget about AoL as well - we cant suck all the active ppl out of it, we should also do some minor roster cleaning and try for some active ppl for AoL as well since we've moved 10 active into AoD.
