AoL's New buddy system
So I know we've been talking about this for a while but I finally found someone dumb um I mean nice enough to handle this. So the basic idea is we get some members who want to help out by partying with new members, we get all their interests and pair them up. Kara will working on this with Aaron and Andrea, and anyone else who wants to help. As officers nothing really changes unless you want to get involved. When you recruit someone you don't need to ask them questions or tell them about any of this, (just do the stuff we've been doing forever 90%, ts etc) I would like you to message one of the above people but if you don't want to, then they will check the recruiting logs in guild menu
A couple of things I we need to make sure all involved know
1. we are matching people up by what they like to do and when they play.
2. it is strictly voluntary, only people who want to do this should.
3. it's not a babysitting service, if the buddy doesn't want to do something they are under no obligation to do so, I don't want this to be a job, just a way for members to meet each other.
4. we can also ask for members who would like to be mentors to new members
5. I know I'm going to think of other stuff too so I'll leave this open....
If you have any suggestions or whatnot lets hear them
if you want to help talk to Aaron or Kara

I think we should offer this "opportunity" to squires as well

Re: AoL's New buddy system
I agree Beau, I think it would be a fabulous opportunity for Squires as well! I can have a chat to each person that volunteers and work out what they would be comfortable helping people with and from there start pairing people up!

If there are no objections I would like to quote Ratche on this and post this in the Round Table asking for suggestions and volunteers.

Re: AoL's New buddy system
Akari has this for her guild (BEEP), there should be some things to note:
* People can get too attached. If you are constantly partied or w/e for missions, dungeons, etc., it may be that people don't ask guild for help, they ask you. Especially with shy/introverted people! So having said people active with the entire guild is better, than just one person.
* BEEP does it where the new member is not notified of the system. In this way, it can fail for similar reasons as implied above.
* This is probably best when matched with playing times/schedules.
bleh can't think of much, i'll ask akari more of what she learned by doing the mentor program sometime later

Thankyou very much for this input Tia, I think it is indeed something we will need to be mindful of when we're doing this.

Re: AoL's New buddy system
Okay further talked it over with akari:
1. From what I could tell, very similar to what we're planning.
2. It would be further improved to have mentor/mentee specific events with rewards and prizes so mentors don't get bored/feel unrewarded/will want to continue doing what they're doing.
3. People leveling up will likely need special attention, so they adequately form bonds within the guild as opposed to whomever they may be leveling with.
4. Be friendly and open when inviting people. Example: "I'm gonna do a dungeon, would anyone like to join? (If you don't know the dungeon that's ok, we'll teach you)"
5. Small actions like saying hi to guildies when passing by them, waving, etc. are nice gestures and friendly (do it often!).
6. Offer your help if you're bored to do anything for new people.

Aaron and I will still be working on this, but for now it's temporary on hold because he is moving houses.
