Kainis for Officer

I just wanted to make this official. Kainis has been mentioned several times in other threads as officer material.

I think he would make an excellent officer. He is very social on TeamSpeak. He loves getting dungeon groups together, especially helping people level in fractals.

My only one hesitation is that he has mentioned playing a new game that will pull his attention away around February.

(He seemed slightly miffed that Kara got promoted before him.)

If we're holding off because he plans to play a new game that will take his attention away, I don't think he should be given the role simply because he is miffed that someone else got a promotion before him. Being an officer should be more than just a title, it should come with responsibility that requires active participation.

If we think he'll make an excellent officer, that is fine.  And if we think he will contribute, that is fine too. But we should not reward jealousy just for the sake of putting out a fire.

And I hope if he gets promoted and reads this, he will understand it's nothing personal. <3

I really think he was joking, but that he would mention it at all in Guild Chat... "But, what about me?"  I didn't really care for that.  

On the other hand, I cannot complain about an officer who may not be very active for a while.  At the moment, I only am able to get on maybe for an hour a day.  I'm starting to miss days.  I'm considering stepping down.

Well, if I remember well I was the one bringing up Kainis as a potential officer. I think we should definitely promote him, even if he's kind of hinting at playing another game in february. Who knows what can happen until then, and maybe this new sense of responsibility in AoL will make him stick around more... He's all we're looking for to be honest. Great knowledge, jovial, helpful, shows great altruism... Plus he's a warrior and only warriors deserve to be officers (trololol j/k)
And I know him a little now, and to be honest, I think he was just taking the piss at Kara. He doesn't come out as the jealous type...

I was in TS when he made the comment, I do believe he was feeling a little looked over; but was genuinely happy for me, and I believe was just shit stirring a little (please excuse my french)
Kainis is an amazing guy with endless amounts of patience and knowledge! very privileged to have the chance to learn from him about HEAPS of things! I was not offended at all with the comment, and I truly believe he would have made a MUCH better fit... but I truly do appreciate this opportunity!

It was not a contest between you two, we consider you both valuable members and were both up for promotion because of your own respective awesomeness.

IMO you still put a lot of effort in, despite your reduced playtime. I see it as more about quality of effort, rather than outright quantity.

Yuri you make some excellent points.  I can get on board with that.

I agree with all of the above. I do think he would be an awesome officer. And, No it was not a contest. We discuss several people for promotions. They are usually all worthy to one degree or another. It just happens faster for some people than others. It is not "either or," it is just timing.

the way I see it there are 2 questions,
1. is he on the forum and
2. is he going to be playing as much.

If the answer is yes I think he would make a great officer, I'm going to talk to him when I see him next.

Last visit was 8 days ago.  Looks like he lurks occasionally but hasn't posted anything to date. That could certainly change if he is officer, especially if there is an expectation or requirement for officer participation, at least in the officer forums. Some people need a little gentle nudging to get them to post.
