Forum Permissions
dont know if you have noticed , the forum is hidden for guests.
sometimes i think we should open it
reasons
1- for the people that read only , they dont need to create a account that will never post.
2- for people interest in posting but lazy to create a account , they might get interested after reading some of it before creating the account.
what u think ?

Re: Forum Permissions
The only reservation I have with doing this is that we should make sure a guest cannot hack their way in and post something. Other than that, I don't see a problem.

Re: Forum Permissions
seems like a good idea... sometimes i get logged off and its a hassle to log in (always forget which of my 2 passwords i use it is XD) just to see whats going on if i m not really going to post... + if you make it so guests can view only certain areas of the the forum..

Re: Forum Permissions
I am with zero, fence off parts of the forums to non-members but sections like general FAQ and general infomation. Yeah I see no problem with that

Re: Forum Permissions
I think that guests should not see anything beyond the bare bones of the Current Alliance. Why should they see the mumble info that the Alliance uses? Why should they see all posts, what gives them that right as they have nothing invested within the Alliance here in 1. Why should a "guest" have the same permissions on forum and full access as someone who is a member in an active Guild within the Alliance? That negates to me the reason for even having an ally-guild forum, instead we could just turn it into a GW 1 and 2 forum.

Re: Forum Permissions
That's a valid point kiera. We should keep that guidelines section available, but then see if we can't find a way to make that invitations section available to guests so we can have curious applicants apply there

Re: Forum Permissions
you are right kiera , but a total stranger can create a account and have access to all the information anyways.
knowing the url is your key to the forum , its not the account ..
but i agree some information is better to keep less exposed then other.
i will change the permissions for the recruitment forum only.

Re: Forum Permissions
Open for them to read, but would have to join to be part of the dialog. I have a membership on forums.steampowered.com and had to get approval to post or reply, but could read without joining. Sometimes, the desire to be part of the conversation will attract new members.

Re: Forum Permissions
Something somewhere between Kierra & Pendragon may be good. Have a few areas that are open for public view (i.e. Recruitment, Activities, Random, Multimedia). Just to give people a taste of what the guild personality is like, but READ ONLY (except for Recruitment). Other areas like AOL's Corner and the Round Table would remain hidden or blocked to non members.

Re: Forum Permissions
That sounds about right Beau. We should keep certain things behind closed doors for members only. This would be especially true if we had alliance special gvg or pop builds we run in either GW 1 or 2!
