Squire Recruiting.
With Jolly stepping down, we are losing one of our best recruiters. Since restructuring our ranks, we have been a lot more selective in promoting to Squire. I've looked at our current list of Squires and it is quite small. I am debating the idea of letting Squires recruit again.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
The idea of having so many people capable of recruiting often worries me, I think it goes past looking for quality in our players.. more another number to add to the many there already...
I think the Squires we do have atm with exception to
- qui jon monk jr.9750
- Araesh nal.6480
are responsible, mature and great members. The people I have listed I have never seen contribute to conversation, take part in parties or anything... Can someone give me a bit of info about them?
For the most part, I think if we worked together with our Squires and gave them clear details on how we would like recruitment to go.. I think it could potentially be something worth trying.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
My honest opinion... I don't like that the Militia rank was taken out, I think it truly helped identify a clear ranking system and showed people the individual requirements per rank, with a low enough level to introduce our new members into the guild.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
I agree with kara if we had militia rank we could then demote the squires that are not active enough, and then allow squires to recruit I know the srg and mrs tech have both recruited good members to our guild and am sure they would do a great job. mrs tech has expressed that she does not want to be officer but would be more than willing to help with recruiting. also with a lot of the officer having full time education or work it makes it harder to get more members at the times we need them to make it a balanced guild.

If we wish to reestablish the Militia rank we should make a simple set of expectations like what we did for the other two.

Just FYI, qui jon monk jr.9750 is Wine's alt account. And Araesh nal.6480 is an OG from GW1 who cant be online a lot. As far as squires recruiting, I have no qualms with it. Bringing back the Militia rank gets my vote as well.

oooh alright awesome, I didn't know them and figured I would ask :-D
Would anyone be opposed to me perhaps putting together a rough draft for the ranks?

Current expectations are here:
https://lightness.forumotion.com/t6359-guild-ranks-and-expectations
I would like to keep the new rank expectations concise as well.
I am not sure about the name Militia. A militia is a civilian military force. That was the rank below soldier. Let me think on a new rank name.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
Reading over the expectations for our ranks.. I think we should make this slightly more... detailed and list some things a bit more clearly. I strongly believe that it may be worth while getting together as a collective group (in a topic thread) and covering exactly what should be entailed for each rank.
I personally believe that the higher the rank.. the more responsibility and more effort/time that person needs to put into the guild (within reasons of IRL as well)
Side note but related comment.
The main thing I am trying to put across here is.. I don't think it should be left only to a certain few members to do 'everything'. Beau (I love you.. but...) has been putting in crazy hours working on recruiting, he is always one of the first to put a hand up to help anyone with anything.. and I LOVE this about him, I really do.. and it shows our members that we are ALL approachable, but I kinda feel that officers.. we're letting him down! we should be putting in more effort!
I said it before with Ratche, and I will say it again (I am sorry if this upsets anyone.. I dont want it to.. but I feel like I need to)
As an officer we have an OBLIGATION! Pull our fingers out, take something by the horns and work on it!!
Be it: recruiting, non-reppers, GMs, dungeons, fractals.. something.. I LOVE that we're laid back, I love that we're social, but.. we still need structure, we still need guidelines and basic policies and procedures.
Is there a way we can work this out? rehash our ranks and the people within them??
This is only food for thought coming from my jumbled up confused mind.. something I have been pondering for awhile and I wanted to put it all out here where it can be seen.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
Whilst i agree with most of what kara is saying i would hate this GAME that i love to PLAY become more like a government run establishment or a work place that i try to unwind from when i get home. to many rules and it becomes more like a chore and less like fun.
yes there has to be basic rules or the guild would simply fall into chaos,
but please lets not be to strict or the game becomes more like the work place.
I have no issues with being demoted down in rank and if squires can recruit i dont mind being a squire,
being honest i accepted being an officer so that i could recruit in my time zone.
although my time zone in europe on an american server makes it hard to recruit.
i also enjoy taking new people through dungeons and fractals also leading gm teams and helping with other stuff too.
But yes Absolutley agree with you kara we need strutcture and rules, And officers to step up a bit more in there relative active duties.
But please consider not to many rules and regulations like the real world has please please please

Re: Squire Recruiting.
I do not think we need more rules. But, we should expect officers to meet what we have set in place. Mr. Tech, I believe you do a fine job. We do each need to take at least one thing we enjoy doing and take a leading role in that activity. Even if it is just something like general PvE, helping members, and recruiting. (That I think you do very well Mr. Tech) I do believe we let a couple officers slide without contributing much. It should be more than just a status symbol.
Saying that, we could clarify the Requirement some. We can look at any ideas you have.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
I completely agree, we need to make this FUN, not too serious (like work) And I dont want to bring in too much at all because it would go against everything AoL stands for...
I think you're doing a great job Tech, I have played with you a bit and every time I see you on you're doing everything you can to help those who're on!
Yes, we need to work on the rules we have now!

Re: Squire Recruiting.
Perhaps this may be a good time for us to start discussions on our ranking system, requirements and expectations of all ranks (including how to be noticed/nominated for promotion) beginning at the top and working backwards perhaps?
Start at Lord, Knight, Squire, Cavalry and Soldier??

Re: Squire Recruiting.
Lets talk about requirements for Cavalry (above Soldier). I will start a new thread.
Also, talking about ranks we have a glaring lack of response to this thread. One of the expectations for Knight is to log into the forum and reply to officer posts within a week. I am quite disappointed. Kainis has an excuse for being on vacation for two weeks. Yuri is still getting settled. Seamon and Durnik have talked to me directly. But, the rest of you need to comment soon.

Re: Squire Recruiting.
+1 for a rank to help with off-hour recruiting. Except for weekends, I know most of us can't recruit during the day.
The tough part about recruiting is that it's hard to know how well someone will fit in until they're in the guild. So it's basically recruit a bunch and hope that at least 10% are keepers. So having more people (even if it's a small select group) being able to recruit during the off-hours will help.
So how big are we thinking about making the Squire rank?
BTW, I know we're focusing on recruiting other time zones, but does that mean I shouldn't be recruiting during Eastern Time evenings? I kind of stepped down recruiting thinking that we wanted more people in other time zones.
