Poem 1: The Beast That Lurks

I am really into poetry, I love word play- I constantly write down quotes that I think of from day to day and every now and then I put these self-made quotes into poems. Heres one I wrote when I realized that nobody is truely innocent.
The Beast That Lurks
Beware the beast that lurks
In all man,
For it is eager to swallow the wicked
And regurgitate the joyous,
It sets its eyes on the pious and the fruitful.
The happy and the proud.
It lingers in the priest's doubts of a sinful word,
It sinks its talons into the thoughts of the dignified slowly consuming
Their soul until their hallow,
And brittle,
With Apathy.
It becomes ravenous with those that based,
Their fortunes on another woe's.
It waits in the dark,
In the secluded corner of all minds,
Gleefully consuming the darkest morsels thrown to it.
Making the rested restless,
Making each day more tortuous than the last.
Slowly making life wither away,
Desecrating the best of us...
But silently the beast feasts,
For it never strays from its victim's domain.
Prowling though the corridors of our consciousness,
A person demon...
Ever lurking...
My friend,
