Poem 3: See No Evil
See No Evil
By Spice N Dice
Come for a moment, your time and presence I'd like to borrow
For within your world of happiness lies a cave of darkness and sorrow
Follow me across the mires of fear if you're feeling brave
Follow me beyond the forests of denial that hide this cave
Beyond its mouth where a vast labyrinth lies, entrenched with mazes
All around, where ever you look you're surrounded by gazes
Of piercing little eyes...the citizens of this forsaken abode
They live in shadows only a pure light can erode
Fear not the shadows nor the creatures you do not understand
Look beyond your human tendency, on curiosity, to withstand
Take this lantern of truth, force your eyes open, and you will see then
That the denizens of this world are not but children, broken and beaten
Condemned throughout time to this cave of human naiveté
"Children abused and hurt? Impossible, there's just no way!"
But see them weep, hear them wail, feel their wrath at their betrayers
They're searching for a hero, can you hear it in their prayers?
Without dreams, without love, without the semblance of a voice
Wishing they were never born had they been given the choice
Now think of the big picture and you'll note something odd
Your world of perfect happiness is just a facade
Masking the truth that there's no such thing as perfection
That your world to this one is just an appearance, a complexion
That the world sees no evil, its people are afraid
And rather than denounce it, they continue their charade
All is not lost though, so do not despair
Now that you're aware you can begin to repair
The answer is quite simple, just drop the act
Children are being hurt, embrace the fact
Clearing this cave, of children, will take some time
But you can no longer stand aside and watch this crime
So speak out to the people, and to their hearts, inspire
Give those children the voice of freedom they so desire
So that from this mirage there can be born a reality
Where those children can be safe and nurtured with vitality
For within your world of happiness lies a cave of darkness and sorrow
Follow me across the mires of fear if you're feeling brave

Re: Poem 3: See No Evil
I like! But iam afraid I lost the meaning...are "the children" representative of something or are they just as they are- children. But an interesting- and direct approach at man's apathy

Re: Poem 3: See No Evil
I'm doing a research paper on child abuse this semester. The children are the only direct thing that are representative of themselves in my poem xD
Glad you liked it hehe would you change anything about it though?

Re: Poem 3: See No Evil
I think the mentioning of all these children through me off haha I didnt know if you were actually talking about children at first- just thought it was a metaphor you kept coming back to- kinda put me off in some areas. Perhaps if child abuse was your subject you should approach the matter with more subtly- about the emotion effects of (which you could describe in colorful language)
