Going through promotions..

I'm going through the guild list a few times every day and I've been paying attention to guild chat a lot, seeing who helps out a lot, who replies a lot etc etc... Also checking forum activity and TS (yes I'm in TS, hiding and not talking at all).
I went ahead and promoted Ivory from Soldier to Squire. If this is no good tell me and I'll turn it back. She's very active in guild chat, helps out super much and is also active in TS.

I'm taking a few notes on who more to promote and I'll let you know later. Anyone has any suggestions?

I like ivory, I think she was a good choice for squire.

I do, however, have some "do not promotes" hehe ...

Ok, I've been paying attention a lot lately, but I do not have a lot of people to promote (yet)

- Dragnix, promotion from Squire to Knight (already have a spec thread for this and I gave my opinion there);

- Mirai Baka, promotion from Militia to Squire. He is active in guild chat, TS and forum, he is helpful and nice, organises things and participates in many guild events. I think he should def have a higher rank than Militia. He's around a lot when I'm on and he definitely sticks out.


I also have a few people (I'm so mean o God) whom I think (Is that the correct phrase? Whom? My English sucks let me speak dutch already) are close to a demotion. I know it's prob not my business, just giving suggestions:

- Deathwhisper, Squire. He is making a lot of people feel uncomfortable, he is rude, and currently not being very active in the guild;
- To be continued

Mirai I don't know very well, so I will defer to those that know him better. You make a strong case for soldier though. How long has he been in guild? I know we like to have folks spend at least a month with us before moving them to soldier, which is a trusted position.

Also you're not mean about demotions. The world isn't made of sunshine and happiness. Sometimes people need to be reigned in. Don't be afraid to speak your mind if you think someone is damaging the atmosphere of the guild, imo.

I truly believe that Mirai Baka would be an amazing fit for not just soldier but for squire even! He is very active in guild chat, TS and has come up with a great idea for Guild Tag as another team activity!
I met Mir as a PUG in a dungeon run and from the moment he came in he has been a fountain of knowledge, guidance, friendliness and tbh.. he is generally a really nice guy!
I have had alot to do with him and think he would be a fabulous Squire! (not only for the fact he is Aussie :p)
To add to this... he has been a previous guild officer/leader!

I don't know him, so I'll defer to you all. Just make sure before you promote anyone they understand the expectations, (not that there are many, but I consider squires like non-coms in the military.

Yes Yuri he is one of the 3 I have recruited along the way! Mirai was a little before the other 2 though :-P

I would also like to see Rogan Lon be promoted to Militia :-)

reason being.. he has been in the guild for a couple months now and when he is on he is takes part in GMs, GC and TS! He is a regular repper as well

If you guys are ok with it, I would like to promote Pseudonym to Squire (he is currently soldier).  He's active, helpful, kind, respectful, and mature.  If we are all in agreement, I can leave it in Andrea's capable hands to do the actual promotion!!

We might as well wait a day or two before we promote him, to give people a chance to argue against his promotion, if there is anyone who feels he should not be a squire.

Going forward, I think it's a good idea if, especially for promotions Soldier (trusted role) and Squire (one level below officers), we make it a habit to float the idea among the officers first, and allow for a couple days for rebuttals before finalizing the decision. *my opinion*

Psuedo has been an asset to everything I've done with him. He helps guildies and has the respect of other members that do things with him as well. I agree with this promotion.

Pseu has everything we are looking for in a squire! he is a lovely guy, very friendly, very helpful and generally.. I think he is fabulous for AoL!
He is active on TS, Guild Chat and the Forum.. I say ABSOLUTELY!!

Yuri I agree, I think he would make an excellent officer. But I suppose we should at least make him Squire before making him officer? Or do we sometimes bypass that step? I can't remember what rank others were before being promoted to officer.

we can go peasant to officer if we wish, not that I can think of any reason we would. so yeah we can skip squire if we want.

I usually talk to people or send them a mail before I promote them about what their new rank involves and such. What I was wondering, though, are the rank requirements in the round table still up to date? And are squires going to be recruiting again or not? Because now there is hardly a difference between soldier and squire other than status and slightly more responsibility

I think the rank requirements post needs some updating and adjusting. Also we talked elsewhere about squires not recruiting.

I'm of the opinion, still, that given the way gw2 has guild permissions set up, there isn't more we can give squires, so I see it as mostly a "we trust you to be more responsible, so here is an extra status symbol" sort of thing.

On another note, I've changed the role of Sidney into Veteran a while ago but forgot to mention. He is an old member from GW1. He hasn't been on for a long time so I made him a vet. If you'd like to see this differently, please let me know.

Also, if you guys have any suggestions on who to promote to Soldier/Squire, do let me know. I think either Kitty or Beau are taking care of Militias, since those need to join forum in order to get that rank, and I cannot see that.

The rank summary I posted in the general forum a while back is slightly out of date.  Most of it does not need to be changed, but for I think squires and soldiers it probably isn't in line with what we're doing with the whole soft freeze thing.  It still should be looked into and altered as necessary on a regular basis though.

I can edit it at some point early next week probably, if nobody else gets to it.

Yeah Pseudo's awesome. Do you want to start an officer promo discussion thread for him or would you like me to?

Also last I heard Sidney got banned from gw2, I can't remember why. But I'm going to assume it probably wasn't a permanent ban? I can't remember lol. In any case, veteran seems right for him imo.

And the promotion to Militia for signing up for the forums, yeah Beau mentioned to me that if I activate anyone on the forums I should promote them to Militia too ... I think that and repping are the only requirements for promotion right? Hope that's OK.

Honestly? Let someone else do it. You have taken on quite some tasks already and there are other officers doing much less. Let them do it. You gotta have some time to play, too. You're doing an amazing job and it's nice of you to take on so many things, but I think some others could do a bit more, too. Don't want you to get fed up with things <3

I will step back from updating the rank descriptions, but so should you, you have some stuff on the go already too! Hopefully another officer will take this one on!

Not that I think updating the rank list has a super high priority, but it would be nice if someone could work on it some time.
